FDA’s proposed e-cig ban
While several million daily smokers have become daily vapers (clearly a gateway effect), and there’s no evidence ANY nonsmoker has become a daily vaper. But JAMA publishes another deceitful DHHS funded junk study and accompanying editorial (by Big Pharma financed AAP’s Jonathan Klein) falsely insinuating e-cigs are gateways to cigarettes; study irresponsibly excluded all baseline smokers and only inquired about “ever use” of e-cigs and cigarettes, finds 11 nonsmokers who used an e-cig before smoking a cigarette.
‘Vapers’, vendors say they are here to stay
Big Pharma financed e-cig prohibitionist CTFK criticizes FDA for delaying regulation that would ban manufacturing and sales of all e-cigs to adults (by deceitfully claiming it is needed to protect children).

Anti THR policy activism
CDC study finds sharp decline in tobacco smoking among high school students (from 31.5% in 2001 to 19.5% in 2013) and in overall tobacco use (from 33.9% to 22.4%), but no change in use of low risk smokeless tobacco; but CDC touts irrelevant factoid in press release “High school athletes using smokeless tobacco more than non-athletes” and grossly exaggerates smokeless tobacco risks to confuse, scare, and lobby for even more anti smokeless tobacco propaganda and for more intolerant adult smokeless tobacco usage bans at professional baseball stadia.
CDC demonization of smokeless tobacco and call for adult usage bans generates news stories and editorials repeating CDC’s misinformation and intolerance
FDA/NIH funded Tom Eissenberg (who urged FDA to ban e-cigs in 2010 because he claimed e-cigs don’t emit nicotine) finds that vapers who vape 36mg/ml nicotine e-liquid at 30 second puff intervals can consume even more nicotine than by smoking a cigarette, but then claims (without providing evidence) that doing so can be harmful and suggests policy makers consider mandating limits on the amount of nicotine vapers can obtain.
Cigarettes vs Marijuana
NIDA funded MTF finds daily cigarette smoking by college students plummeted to 5% in 2014 (from 19% in 1999), past 30 day cigarette smoking dropped to 12.9% (from 30.6% in 1999), past 30 day e-cig use at 9.7%; Finds past 30 day cigarette smoking by 19-28 year olds dropped from 20% in 2013 to 17.5% in 2014 (for sharpest annual decline ever); Univ of Mich. authors hype modest increase in marijuana use to news media.
DHHS funded study finds some teens (like adults) vape THC or pot, demonizes vaping, but author falsely claims vapor has no smell and cannot be detected.
Smoking Cessation Drugs
After trashing Public Health England’s objective report on e-cigs, The Lancet publishes study finding that Varenicline (Chantix/Champix) poses no risk of cardiovascular or neuropsychiatric events.

More Junk Science, Propaganda and Lies

E-cig prohibitionists and propagandists McKee and Capewell send letter to The Lancet
